Gateway Mall is in the process of being converted from an enclosed center to an open-air regional power center with a modernized shopping environment and a higher quality merchandise mix. More than 200,000 square feet of existing space into exterior-facing space will be redeveloped to add more than 40,000 square feet of new outparcels and will boast more than 35,000 square feet of renovated interior mall space. The redevelopment is scheduled to be complete in the fall of this year, in time for the holiday shopping season.
We are thrilled that Hobby Lobby, Marshall’s, Petco, ULTA and Panera have committed to opening new locations when the redevelopment is complete. Collectively, these tenants will occupy more than 100,000 square feet of prime retail space. These stores will complement the Gateway Mall’s existing lineup of tenants that are staying on for the project (International Fitness, Oregon Sports, Ross, Maurice’s, Payless, Subway) and our strong anchor lineup (Cabela’s, Target, Kohl’s, Cinemark, Walmart Neighborhood Market) and more.
In addition, new shopping amenities including bike paths and a refurbished covered walkway will be added so shoppers can safely and conveniently access public transportation. The project is part of Rouse’s ongoing effort to create long-term value for shoppers, retailers and the local communities where its malls reside through the active redevelopment, repositioning and re-tenanting of its assets.
